I am a chick, a little chick from my mother the hen. On the
first days of my life, I was in an egg. They say a chick’s egg should hatch
within twenty one days. Now that I came out of my eggshell, I can live just
like my mother. I love to eat just what chickens eat; seeds and rice. Most chicks
like me live on a farm. Some are destined to become food for humans to eat. It is
a good thing that I was able to hatch out of my eggshell and live normally to
become a chicken someday.

I am a Chick by Martina Pace
I am a chick and my name is Yellow. My name is Yellow,
because my feathers are all yellow. I have brown eyes. Around my neck there is a
collar and in the collar I have a small bell so that I won’t get lost. I live
in a big and clean house because I am the pet of a girl. This girl takes good
care of me. Sometimes she takes me for a walk. During the night I sleep in her
bedroom because I have a small bed of my own. She even takes me to school with
her! In the evening she gives me a small bowl of food so that I can eat. I like
being a chick and I’m really happy that I found this girl taking good care of
me.
I am a Chick by Anthea Falzon
I am a chick but I am not a mammal because I am covered with
feathers and not with fur. I am a yellow chick with black small eyes. I don’t
have brothers or sisters but I have lots and lots of friends like me. I love my
friends and they love me too because we play together in the fields all day
long. Every morning and evening, the farmer puts food and water in our bowls. When
some chicks are born, the farmer calls the vet to check them to keep them safe
and strong and healthy. I love to be a chick because I love Spring time in the
fields and meadows of the farmer’s farm.
I am a Chick by Martina Doublet
I am part of a family. My mum is a hen and my dad is a cock. I have
a fluffy body full of yellow feathers. I have two orange feet. I have a red
beak. I have yellow wings. When I was small I was in an egg. In six months time
I will be a hen. I eat and drink a lot. I am like a bird but I don’t fly. My stays
stays for twenty one days on the eggs to keep them warm. At EASTER time the
children draw a picture of me on their EASTER cards.
I am a chick by Leon Camilleri
My name is Leon and I am a chick. My mother is a chicken and
she has eight brothers and sisters. My body is covered with yellow feathers and
I hatched out of an egg. Life on the farm where I live is fun because I have
many friends there. Some of them are chicks like me but Bessie the Cow and Tony
the Pig are also my friends. The farmer likes me very much and I hope to grow
up to be a big rooster.
Daniel's Story
Angele and
James went to play in the park. It was a sunny day. They went to play hide and
seek. Angele hid in an apple tree and James was counting on the left of the
tree. Angele found a big egg and told James to come up the tree. James saw and
egg and it was very big, bigger than the ones he liked to eat. After a minute,
the egg made a big cracking sound. A dodo came out and they named him Daniel. They
went home and gave him peas to eat and they kept him and lived happily ever
after.

Tom and
Clare went to the park. It was a sunny day. Tom and Clare decided to play hide
and seek. Clare was hiding in an apple tree while Tom was counting the numbers
and covering his eyes with his hands. All of a sudden, Tom heard Clare calling
him to climb the tree in a hurry because she found something interesting. Clare
told Tom that there was a giant egg in a giant nest. Both of them looked at the
egg. To make it more interesting for them, the egg cracked. Tom and Clare were
very happy because from this egg a snake popped out. Day after day, Clare and
